La’Shawn
“I have been a high school art teacher with Norfolk Public Schools for the past 10 years and have served as the Lead Summer Camp Coordinator at SK8 House for the last 5 years. I have experience working with students in ESL (English as a Second Language), special education, and gifted programs, ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade.
My background includes teaching in both traditional academic settings and fast-paced summer camp environments, where I focus on creating engaging, supportive, and fun learning experiences.
As a Norfolk native, I have a passion for photography, drawing, and all things creative. I’m also a big movie enthusiast—Steven Spielberg is a major inspiration of mine!
I look forward to working with you and your skater to help build skills, confidence, and create an unforgettable summer camp experience.”
Smurf
Hi! My name is Smurf, and I’m a roller skating instructor and certified personal trainer originally from Nashville, Tennessee. I’ve been skating for 49 years, and my passion for it is just as strong today as when I first started.
I grew up as a competitive speed skater and have since trained in artistic roller skating, ice skating, and roller derby. Skating isn’t just something I do—it’s a huge part of who I am.
One of my greatest joys is teaching others how to skate. I love helping new skaters build confidence, improve balance, and develop their skills—all while having fun on wheels. Whether your child is stepping onto skates for the first time or looking to take their abilities to the next level, I’m excited to support their journey.
I can’t wait to share my love of skating and help your child roll into a new adventure!
